This will probably be my last post for 2007. A lot has happened in the last month. We moved to a better and semi-permanent location. We found a place in Henderson, NV we liked and it will be our “home base” as we do plan to travel in the coming year. It’s a nice 3 bedroom apartment, townhouse style with attached garage. We had a good Christmas. Draylan got lots of presents. I am telling you we spoil the hell out of my son. If we don’t do it, he has plenty of aunts and uncles that do it for us. lol
I am still playing Entropia Universe. I have been meaning to get more time in world but I have been busy with the move and all.
I have found another time sink however. It comes in the form of a PS3 game called Eye of Judgement. It’s a hybrid console and collectable card game similar to Magic: The Gathering and Yu Gi Oh. It’s played using the Playstation Eye and a game board where you lay cards down and they battle. I’ve never been into card games before, but this one has me hooked. We’ve started a local Saturday night “Eye of Judgment” night where some of our friends get together and we play. If you are in the Las Vegas/Henderson area and play Eye of Judgment, give a comment or send me a note and we’ll send you an invite.
Anyways, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! 2008 wil Rock!
I really need to get blogging on a regular basis.
I was laid out sick for most of September.
Anyways, September was for the most part an uneventful month. The big BIG big thing that has happened is that my son started school for the first time! Lots of anticipation and excitement for us. He took to it well, he’s having a lot of fun in school.
I’ve been outlining the next phase of what we’re doing with our web stuff and other sites. I will be working on two non-porn sites soon (Surprise Surprise). We’re taking the Happy Fornicator site offline for a bit while we re-group on what it’s purpose is.
On the Linux side of things I have been checking out Ubuntu 7.10 which is due out on th 18th of October. It’s looking interesting. I’ll be installing the release as soon as I get my hands on it. I think I will be re-doing the main home server yet again.
The plans for Costa Rica are still out there. We’ve also started looking at other opportunities in other countries. It’s time for us to get out of Las Vegas.
Entropia Universe is still occupying my free time. I am having a lot of fun with it and see some potential for residual income down the road.
Anyways, I just wanted to give a quick update.
I am still unsure why my database did a huge oops on me. I decided to install wordpress from scratch and convert over to Next Gen Gallery. I put as much of my posts back as I could and I will work on cleaning up the posts as I am able.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some pictures up and update you all on some of my projects.
not sure what happened yet, but JUST the db for this site crashed. I have about 20 other wordpress sites and what not and they all work, JUST thejoe.com crashed. I have most of my posts and will try to get them back into the system.
Wow, I moved my hosting server from one of my windows servers to my new server running linux and ensim.
It seems everything went smooth. We’ll see how this goes for a few days. I used phpMyAdmn for the first time. I am not sure I have all the permissions set properly on these directories but I’ll keep working on it.
Now to try to Upgrade. LOL
Well, a lot has happened in the past few weeks. I have been meaning to blog, but I have had a birthday, my son has had a birthday, we’re going through a server migration, and I have been flyin kites.
Let’s start with the birthdays…
My birthday was on March 8th. It was pretty uneventful, I headed out on March 7th with some friends and went to the Palomino strip club (all nude with booze - BONUS!). For my actual birthday I went and saw 300 with a couple friends at midnight. We got lucky and were the first ones in the theatre and got choice seats. Had a drink at Hot Shots (now called Kelley’s) said hey to my favorite bartender Bobby and went home. Nothing spectacular.
My son’s Birthday was the 19th. He had a great birthday, we took him and about 14 of our good friends to the Excalibur and did the Knights dinner thing there. We were supposed to go to Blue Man but they changed their age limit to 6 (bummer). He had a good time anyways and got lots of gifts.
Now for the server stuff… UGH!~
We’ve had our server co located with The Planet for a few years now and we decided to upgrade. It’s been quite the experience. It’s been nothing but a series of mis-communications. I won’t go into details since they are a GREAT hosting company. We just got our wires crossed is all.
For the fun stuff… Kites!
As per my last post, you know that I have been getting into kites lately. Well, I can definitely say that I am HOOKED! We’ve all been getting into it… Angel, Dana, Draylan, Jens, and I have been going kite crazy. Although I can say that I probably the one most into it. We’ve gone from our two cool EO6 and EO10 single line box kites to well… I got a couple stunt kites (dual line), the Newtech BLK and Prism Hypnotist (aka Mirage), we got a couple HUGE kites, and are planning on getting a REVolution quad line kite soon. We also purchased a Beetle for draylan and I got a Prism 3D ultralight for low wind days.
We’ve been going out to Silverbowl park by Sam Boyd stadium every Friday evening and flying them and learning. This past weekend we went down to Venice beach in cali and had a blast flying them on the beach. We got a lot of great comments on our kites.
My son and I went kite flying tonight. Earlier this week, we went to the local kite store ( http://www.awindofchange.com ) and bought a couple kites. We found out that there is a local kite group that meets on Friday nights and flies kites at the Sam Boyd stadium in Henderson.
So, we headed down there. Met some cool people, one of them took the time to teach my son and jens how to fly a trick kite. It was not windy enough so we were unable to let our kites fly. But, we had a great time, it’s a wonderful thing hearing my 4 year old son whoopin and hollering at the kites as they did their tricks..
I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. We’re making our plans here moving forward. CES is in town and we’re going to try and check it out in the next days. We’re very interested in what Sony may be showing. You know I am a Sony FREAK. Hell, we just bought 4 Sony laptops in the last 8 weeks. Jens has never been to CES and I will see if I can get him in with me.
Should be good stuff. We hope you and yours have a wonderful New Year!
Well, I have to admit, I was quite surprised at the capabilities of the UX and game play.
Wait, UX update: When the UX is on my desk. I have it docked in its nifty docking station and hooked up to a Samsung widescreen monitor and it’s pushing a resolution of 1440×900 with absolutely no issues at all. I use it as a secondary system with Stardock’s Multiplicity (which ROCKS) to use the main mouse and keyboard to drive the UX. good stuff!
Ok, back to gaming.. So, I currently play EVE Online, Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies Online, and Everquest II. Some of you know that I run a gaming guild ( www.OrderofZ.com ).
I am glad to report that ALL of those games work smoothly on the UX. EVE is prolly the most graphic intensive of them all and it runs without any major complications. Also, when I am on the road, these games connect with solid playability over the Cingular edge network.
Boy, I really don’t mean to update this blog once a month. We’ve had a good month. As some of you know that we have been working on a new site (adult of course) and we have some pretty serious plans for this site. Well, in order to get it of the ground, we needed about $30K for equipment and initial start-up costs just to get the site off the ground. Good news, a very good friend of mine chipped in $20K and that has given us enough to start working on things. Whoo HOO!
So, needless to say we got some new stuff this month. I went and got my UX280P. It rocks. That 1 gig of memory makes all the difference. As before, I put MCE 2005 on it and it runs like a gem.
I also picked up the “GodTop” as Jens and Andrew call it. The Sony Vaio AR290G. This thing is pretty insane. I had budgeted about 3k for an editing machine and was planning to go with a desktop, but this laptop will do the trick. Dana is going to be working on our photoshop stuff and she got a Sony FE790. I think she’s liking it.
Anyways, for Thanksgiving week we took Draylan to LegoLand. I was kinda disappointed in it. It was kinda small and for the size of the park it was fairly expensive. Draylan had a blast tho, and that’s all that matters. We had dinner with the family in San Diego, it was nice seeing everyone, we usually do dinner at Christmas time but they are all going to the Philipines in Dec.
That’s about it for now, I have a busy month yet again. I will try and blog more often.
